Beer and wings: Given Denver's sports-bar obsession, it's easy to find this heavenly duo around town (just check out 5280's March issue for a wing roundup). But nothing's better than encountering both on a happy-hour menu. The Q Worldly Barbeque in Cherry Creek does it right: 50-cent wings and $1 to $2 beers. No, the beers on special are not our beloved Colorado microbrews, but you won't care once you bite into the lightly seasoned, just-tender-enough wings. Here, it's all about sauce options. Q provides the basic wings, but you pick-and-choose from the sophisticated sauce bar. I suggest the Asian Saki---a light, tangy sauce---or anything  of the slightly spicy varieties, like the Alabama White, which offers enough kick for my (overly) sensitive taste buds. (Of course, if you're not a spice wimp like me, try hotter varieties like the Mango Habañero or Smoked Chipotle.) Wash down your grub with a Coors Light while you sit at the good-sized granite bar. The atmosphere is laid-back, with a mix of college students and middle-aged patrons stopping by for genuine, slow-smoked BBQ. Relax as the bartender refills your glass to the tune of blues music pumping from the speakers. (For live blues, stop by Wednesday through Saturday around 8 p.m.) You'll find yourself slowly unwinding, giving in to the Southern hospitality and, of course, the perfect food-and-booze pairing. Bonus: Stop by when the weather warms up and grab a seat on the below-street-level patio.
