For the Colorado Rockies, any good news this season seems to be tempered by something negative. Freak injuries are often to blame, from Huston Street’s bum shoulder and groin to Jorge De La Rosa’s finger.

The latest blow came Thursday night when Troy Tulowitzki was hit by a pitch in Minnesota. The extent of the injury wasn’t known until Friday, when X-rays confirmed one of the bones in his left wrist had been chipped in the incident. In his first comments since the injury, Tulo (pictured) tells The Denver Post he’s “crushed” by the situation.

“I want to play every single game,” he says. “I got my body ready all offseason to be there for my team.”

Tulo’s clearly unhappy about not being able to play for up to six weeks, but he’s confident his team will be able to manage without him on the field.

Also on the injury front: Street is expected to be activated Tuesday for the series-opener against the Boston Red Sox at Coors Field, according to the Post’s Rockies blog, which reports in a separate entry that De La Rosa is projected to return July 7.

Meanwhile, the Rockies managed to take two of three games from the Milwaukee Brewers over the weekend at Coors Field. The Rox had a decent chance at a series sweep until the ninth inning in Sunday’s game. Both teams entered the inning with one run, but the Brewers managed to batter the Rockies’ bullpen (recap via Denver Daily News). The Rockies remain stuck in fourth place in the division, four games behind the San Diego Padres.
