Oldie But Goodie: Abe's Cafe

A staple in downtown Littleton for the last decade, Abe’s Cafe is where I head when I’m in the mood for something sweet. The spot's desserts---particularly the dreamy lemon Italian cream cake with lemon cream filling---are worth the drive. Of course, you’ll want to eat something sensible beforehand, and the family-owned and -operated eatery delivers with satisfying, well-priced entrées. My standbys are the hearty club with spicy capicola ham and the tangy Mama’s chicken-lemon soup (it really is made by Mama). Tip: About 18 months ago, Abe's opened a second location in Lakewood and the menu is the same. Nonetheless, I prefer the Littleton location for its small-town charm and family-oriented service. 2479 W. Main St., Littleton, 303-798-7444 and 3497 S. Wadsworth Blvd., 303-988-8564
