The Colorado Rockies looked dead in the water yesterday at Coors Field after falling behind the powerful Atlanta Braves 10-1 in the third inning. But the Coors Field Magic kicked in, and the Rockies matched the biggest comeback in franchise history to win the game 12-10 (recap via The Associated Press). "This was a heck of a game," says first baseman Todd Helton (pictured). "It would have been easy to fold it up, but we didn't." MLB.com points out that the 11 unanswered runs the Rockies scored to win the game were more than the eight they scored on the team's most recent road trip. The sweep of the Braves pumps some life back into the team's playoff hopes, a prospect that had seemed hopeless lately. The win gives the Rockies an overall record of 66-60, 10.5 games behind the San Diego Padres for the National League West division race, but just four games behind the Philadelphia Phillies and the San Francisco Giants in the National League wild-card chase. The Rockies' chances for October baseball would dramatically improve if they played the rest of their games at home. That's not possible, but reversing the trend and winning games on the road certainly is.
