Sweet Stuff: Les Delices de Paris' Palmiers

Growing up, I remember a bakery named Little Cliff's. The glass case held goodies such as apple fritters, M&M'S cookies, and cinnamon twists, but I had my eyes on the elephant ears (more formally known as palmiers). I'd anxiously await as the lady behind the counter selected one and placed it, wrapped in parchment, into my outstretched hand.

I've loved those cookies ever since. Recently, I stopped into Les Delices de Paris, where Christelle and Gerard Donat bake the most perfect palmiers: delicate, buttery, and just sugary enough. Best of all, for Valentine's Day, the shop sells a bag of these delights, only miniature in size, for $3.50.
