As President Barack Obama commits the U.S. military to yet another conflict abroad, asking them to enforce a no-fly zone over Libya and provide other assistance to pro-democracy rebels in their assault against Muammar Gaddafi's loyalist forces, U.S. Representative Diana DeGette, a Denver Democrat, worries "this action may require substantial U.S. resources" (Denver Post). She thinks the president should address a joint session of Congress and be "given the opportunity to make the case for war."

Democratic U.S. Senator Mark Udall, on the other hand, says he supports the effort, noting the United States is acting with the United Nations and other allies. "The international community has given [Gaddafi] a clear choice, and made it clear that there are serious consequences to ignoring the will of his people" (Colorado Independent).
