As Easter approaches, eschew the usual chocolate bunnies and jelly beans for a bag of lemon-blueberry shortbreads. I discovered these petit-four-type goodies at Lola’s Sugar Rush in Old Town Littleton—and now I’m addicted.

The candies, coated with lemon-flavored white chocolate, encase a crisp blueberry shortbread cookie that’s crunchy and buttery. Healthy? Not a chance. But they taste lighter and more refined than a Cadbury Egg.

While the shortbreads are not locally made, Lola’s sells them for $14.99 a pound (quarter-pound minimum). Perhaps they’re a little expensive, but these citrusy spring treats are worth the splurge. (Lola’s sometimes sells out of the cookies, so call ahead to make sure a new shipment has arrived before heading there.)

Tip: Once Easter comes and goes, these nuggets are still perfectly suited for Mother’s Day or a graduation brunch. Or do as I do and stock up just for the heck of it.
