Product Pick: MM Local

It's May, which in Colorado means fresh, juicy, and local produce is still several weeks away. If, like me, your hankering for sweet tomatoes and plump peaches has, however, already set in, seek out the impressive line of products by Boulder-based MM Local. The company's jars of organic Colorado produce, including peaches, peppers, plums, tomatoes, and beets, provide sweet, summery enjoyment year-round.

I recently turned to MM Local when cooking a simple braised chicken dinner. After browning chicken thighs, sliced onions, and garlic, I mixed in a jar of High Desert Peppers (mild) and one of Front Range Tomatoes, then let the dish simmer for 45 minutes. The result: fall-off-the-bone chicken coated with a sweet and savory sauce that paired perfectly with my side of basmati rice.

I got dessert out of it, too: a winning combination of MM Local Plums, heated slightly, and spooned over vanilla yogurt.

Where to Find It: Several speciality stores around the metro area carry the line, including Tony's Market, Spinelli's Market, and St. Kilian's Cheese Shop.
