Road-Trip Restaurant: Treppeda's Italian Ristorante

Though Treppeda's Italian Ristorante has been a staple in Niwot for 15 years, its wood-fired pizza oven (acquired last year) has fast become a favorite draw. Using some fresh ingredients from the farmers' market, owner Howard Treppeda offers classic European combinations—our favorite being the boscaiola, which is topped with Italian sausage and sautéed chanterelles. The free-standing oven is only brought out on Thursday evenings, when Treppeda's offers live music.

Bonus: Look for Treppeda—and the oven—at the Longmont farmers' market each Saturday.
