Cheap Thrills: Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day

If you’re looking for a way to while away the afternoon on Saturday, here’s one: More than 15 Colorado museums are free for the day as part of Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day. Just choose a museum, download your free ticket, and flash your pass at the door. Here, a few insider tips. (Yeah, we know people.)

Denver Botanic Gardens: Fall’s first hints of color are on display, but so are more than 1,000 kinds of blooming plants. Don’t miss: Roses are at their peak.

Molly Brown House Museum: We love Denver’s spirited, “unsinkable,” heroine—and welcome any reason to return for a visit. Don’t miss: Be sure to check out the symphonium music box in the parlor.

Boulder History Museum: The museum’s current exhibit, “1968 in America”, is a look into some of America’s most difficult years. Don’t Miss: Experience life-changing events like the Vietnam War and assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through music, magazines, photos, and political memorabilia.
