Trend: Wardrobe Updates

For months we’ve been living in our coziest knits and a neutral palette of black and gray. So with 2012's pre-spring and resort-wear collections already trickling into stores, we rounded up a colorful and sporty crop of pieces for our January style page. Since we’ll be seeing these hues all season long, now’s the time to experiment with injecting color into that predictable cold-weather wardrobe.

Stripes pop up in nearly every resort collection, but we like Rebecca Taylor's wool and cashmere sweater in coral and gray (pictured above) for its twist on the look.

Find it: $295, A.Line Boutique, 5375 Landmark Place, Greenwood Village, 303-773-8200, aline-online.com, and neimanmarcus.com

The colored denim trend is one of our favorites, and continues into the spring. Pick up a pair of Sanctuary skinny jeans in bright turquoise and start putting them into heavy rotation now.

Find it: $145-$147, Blush, 1411 Larimer St., 303-399-7779, shop-blush.com, and piperlime.gap.com

If you must keep one foot in the comfort zone and deck yourself out in black, make a colorful statement with a handbag. Heather Belle’s sleek Chloe clutch in yellow leather with an embossed snake pattern will chase away the mid-winter blues.

Find it: $375, heatherbelleco.com
