Sugar Rush: Rocket Fizz, Assorted Goods, and Sugarlicious

Who doesn’t love All-American favorites like bacon, peanut butter and jelly, sweet corn, and Buffalo wings? Well, what if I told you those flavors were available in soda form? Whether you find that intriguing or revolting, you can find those wild and wacky beverages—and hundreds of other sugary fixes—at Rocket Fizz, a new candy store in Boulder.

The California-based company first entered the Colorado market late last year with shops in Denver and Fort Collins. Boulderite David McLaughlin watched their success before deciding to open a franchise of his own on the Pearl Street Mall. This was an inspired move since many have been mourning the loss of beloved Powell’s Sweet Shoppe, which closed last year. Though not as charming as Powell’s, Rocket Fizz comes pretty darn close with its own version of a nostalgic sugar rush with hard-to-find candies and entire walls stacked with impossibly-flavored sodas.

Still not enough? Check out Assorted Goods in nearby Louisville where a tinier but no less diverse candy shop (cattycorner from Lucky Pie) invites a splurge after polishing off your pizza. In Denver, don’t miss the colorful, nostalgic-packed Sugarlicious in Cherry Creek.
