The Best Suburb In The Country?

It's not difficult to find rankings of cities based on any number of different categories—safety, walkability, or cost of living. But it seems we stumble upon suburban rankings less frequently. So when a Coldwell Banker examination of 11,000 U.S. suburbs recently hit our inbox, it caught our attention, particularly because Cherry Hills Village tops the list. (Plus, who doesn't love a good list? Here's one you might like.)

What makes a great suburb? The folks at Coldwell Banker suggest the "suburbs make up the fabric of America, offering a little more space (and a lot more peace and quiet) for people who prefer backyard barbecues and soccer games over the hustle and bustle of city-life." With that idea of suburban life as their barometer, Coldwell Banker determined Cherry Hills Village, an affluent suburb of about 6,000 people just south of Denver, comes out on top.

The study also considered safety, home ownership, access to amenities such as grocery stores and banks, and the quality of nearby schools. Cherry Hills Village, according to the study, is a "residential oasis of mostly single-family homes." The neighborhood was applauded for its views and hiking trails in the Cherry Hills Land Preserve. The rest of the top 10 is listed below. What do you think? What is Denver's best suburb? What makes a great suburb?
