Back in September, I introduced our readers to seven visual artists who are showing just how vibrant and diverse Denver’s art scene is. Discover it yourself during Denver Arts Week (November 2–10). The annual event, now in its sixth year, celebrates all things cultural with gallery openings, hands-on workshops, artist lectures, and more. But with more than 300 events taking place, it can be hard to narrow your options. My top five picks to get you started:

1) Know Your Arts First Friday: Everyone’s favorite First Friday art walk is also the event kick-off. Plenty of galleries around town—from the Art District on Santa Fe to the Tennyson Street Cultural District—are staying open late with live music, food, and a chance to talk with the artists. Bonus: Some galleries will be selling pieces for the “mile-high price” of $52.80. Seems like the perfect time to spruce up those white walls. Free; Friday, November 2, evening

2) Night at the Museums: Become well versed in our culture scene when more than a dozen museums stay open late—for free. Complimentary shuttles help you “museum-hop” around town (or you can drive yourself). Participating locations include the Clyfford Still Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver, the Kirkland Museum of Fine & Decorative Art, and the History Colorado Center, among others (including six in Golden). Don’t Miss: Discounted tickets (buy them in advance!) are available for Becoming Van Gogh at the Denver Art Museum. Free; Saturday, November 3, 5–10 p.m.

3) Alice in Wonderland: A unique adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic, this production is one for the entire family. The ‘master storyteller’ will choose audience members to come on stage and play particular roles in the show. Even those still in their seats contribute with sound effects and more. Free; Sunday November 4, 1:30 and 3 p.m.; Littleton Historical Museum, 6028 S. Gallup St., Littleton, 303-795-3950, littletongov.org/museum

4) Sights & Sounds of Cherry Creek North: Wrap up Arts Week in CCN with live music and exhibitions. Some of the participating spots include Pismo Fine Art Glass (take in an artist lecture), Saks Galleries (check out the Small Gems show), and Cherry Creek Dance (the kids will enjoy a performance by the children’s cast of Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker). Buy: Stop by Ten Thousand Villages between 2 and 6 p.m. and receive 20 percent off anything you can fit into the store’s medium-size shopping bag. Free; Saturday, November 10, all day

5) Sweet Tooth: Art takes the stage with the always-funny Buntport Theater Company’s latest original musical. In this dark comedy, an eccentric woman is on a mission to curate her life. Tip: Enter “Artweek” in the comments section of the reservation page for $3 off your ticket. $16; Runs through Saturday, November 17, times vary; Buntport Theater, 717 Lipan St., 720-946-1388
