Now Open: Masterpiece Delicatessen Uptown

Denver chef Justin Brunson has a lot to be happy about: Not only did his restaurant Old Major land at No. 10 on our 25 Best Restaurants roundup, it also earned Best New Restaurant nods from Bon Appétit and the Thrillist. And as of last week, there’s even more for Brunson to be pleased with: The second location of Masterpiece Delicatessen opened in Denver’s downtown business district at 17th Avenue and Sherman Street.

This time, there’s plenty of elbow room (unlike the small, somewhat awkward LoHi space) and a big sunny patio. But here’s the catch: Masterpiece Two is only open Monday through Friday to catch the business crowd. To further appeal to surrounding boardrooms, Brunson launched a catering business that reinvents the boxed lunch with kicked-up entrées like a chicken confit salad sandwich with arugula and tomato or a tuna salad sandwich nicoise-style.

Brunson’s own Denver Bacon Company also takes center stage at the outpost, with the thick-cut bacon starring in the legendary breakfast sandwiches, the spinach salad, and (if you ask) tucked in with the white truffle egg salad. If that's not enough pork, head to Old Major for swoon-worthy house-cured ham from Brunson’s newly certified dry cure room.
