If you are lucky enough to score a seat at the Populist's always-crowded bar, order yourself a Presbyterian. The classic drink was described as a "light old fashioned” by one diner, and is an easy sip on a cold winter night. The key is its bourbon: W.L. Weller Special Reserve. The Kentucky bourbon is the same recipe as Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve bourbon, but aged a mere two years. Bartenders add house-made ginger syrup, a splash of club soda, and garnish with a lemon rind. Although the drink is listed only on the happy hour menu (for $5), bartenders will gladly make it anytime.
