Puppies, casinos, pancakes—what more could you want? Lend a hand with one of our four community service recommendations for the week.

Foodie Fundraisers: Did someone say pancakes? On Tuesday, the Southglenn Snooze will prepare a special pancake menu to support Schoolyard Crop, a project dedicated to integrating horticultural skills into school curriculum. (As if you needed another reason to go to Snooze.)  The adjacent Whole Foods is chipping in too by donating 5 percent of sales that day to the organization. Tue, 6:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Snooze (Southglenn); 7 a.m.-10 p.m., Whole Foods (Southglenn)

Warm up shelter pets: Before winter wraps up next week, warm the hearts of the pups and kitties who need it most. Join in by helping soothe pets waiting for a home in the Aurora Animal Shelter by assembling no-sew fleece blankets. Materials and refreshments will be provided. Wed, 6-8 p.m. Aurora Public Library

Dress In Blue Eve: Band together in blue against colon cancer. “Dress In Blue Day” started as a classroom show of support for a cancer survivor. Now, it's a national movement. The Denver portion of the fundraiser event supports the Colorado Cancer Coalition as it enters Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. Entertainment includes music from Marty Jones & the Great Unknowns. Thu, 6-9 p.m. Breckenridge Brewery

Cards for Humanity: Whether you host a weekly poker night or haven’t so much as heard of Rounders, come try your hand at this vintage charity casino night. When your luck runs out, raise a paddle at the silent auction, or don a mask and swing to the sounds of the Mary Louise Lee Band’s 1930’s jazz standards. All proceeds will benefit the Hope Center, an agency dedicated to helping the disabled receive specialized assistance. Sat, Mar 8. 7 p.m.-12 a.m. Sherman St. Event Center
