Add this to today’s agenda: Drive to Bruxie and order the smoked salmon lox and dill cream cheese waffle sandwich (pictured). You need to do this not because it’s Bruxie’s opening day (true), or because it’s National Waffle Day (also true), but because you will walk away a believer.

I’m all for waffles and I like what Wafflich has done on Tennyson Street. California-based Bruxie, though, takes the breakfast staple several steps further. Here, a lighter, crispier, less sweet waffle becomes the bread for savory sandwiches and even a burger, before looping back to dessert (don’t miss the lemon cream and berries version). Most important, I believe you will be wowed by the airiness of this waffle—especially when matched with the iconic pairing of smoked salmon, cream cheese, and cucumbers.
