Cinco de Mayo is synonymous with margaritas and tacos, but this year you might want to consider eschewing the fiesta for author Elizabeth Gilbert’s appearance at the Paramount Theatre. Ten years have passed since she published the New York Times best-seller Eat Pray Love, and she’s marked the occasion by publishing a collection of nearly 50 essays called Eat Pray Love Made Me Do It: Life Journeys Inspired by the Bestselling Memoir (released by Riverhead in March). The short tales written by readers from all over the world—including one from Colorado—detail the life-altering impact of Gilbert’s book. The evening, which is guaranteed to be better than a watered-down margarita, includes a lecture and about 30 minutes of audience Q&As. Thursday, May 5, 8 p.m.; tickets start at $39
