Keith L. Small, D.M.D., received his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kansas State University in 1958. He completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in 1967.
A native of Kansas, Dr. Small worked for eleven years as an engineer at the General Electric Company Aircraft Jet Engine Division in Cincinnati, Ohio. He worked on engine projects for the F-104, B-58, F-4 and the 2000mph XB-70. He was on active duty for three years in the United States Air Force.
Dr. Small is the senior member of the Cody Dental Group, joining the staff in1967. For seven years he was a member of the Visiting Faculty at the L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education in Key Biscayne, Florida. In 1973 he was appointed a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Small was also a member of the Advisory and Leadership Board of Directors of the University of Colorado at Denver Health Sciences Center School of Dental Medicine, and is a member of the Denver Academy of Restorative Dentistry. From 1983 to 1993, Dr. Small was the principal investigator in two election microscopy research projects at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine. This research was published in 1987 and 1992.
In 1988 Dr. Small was elected to membership in the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, an invitation-only academy that limits its worldwide membership to a maximum of 165 dentists. Dr. Small enjoys music, aviation and baseball. In March 2012, Dr. Small was invited to testify before a U.S. House of Representatives Congressional Committee on the impact of Obamacare on Small Business and Job Creation.
