News: Plimoth Patio Opens, With Outdoor Menu Forthcoming

June 5 2014, 10:30 AM

Good news for those who can’t wait three weeks for a reservation at the Plimoth: Last week, the North City Park restaurant opened its no-reservations patio. The 16-seat, outdoor space is made of reclaimed brick and lined with raised planters that chef-owner Peter Ryan and his team have been working to fill with herbs, garlic, squash, and tomatoes.

Nearby, a raised wooden deck that Ryan and executive chef Charles MacDonald built themselves is home to a charcoal grill and a “monster” Traeger smoker that can hold two-dozen chickens at a time. For now, the Plimoth is offering the menu from the indoor kitchen, but the plan is to roll out a few items from this outdoor kitchen in the coming weeks. Using cherry, alder, peach, and mesquite woods for fuel, Ryan is considering dishes like smoked brisket, yogurt-marinated chicken thighs, and—of course—smoked pig.

Add the Plimoth to the list of patios we plan to frequent this summer.
