Making a night out of dinner and a movie gets even easier when Louisville’s Cinebarre opens on August 1. The Seattle-based movie theater-eatery remodeled the Regal Colony Square 12 theater complex to include new seating, a dining room, two bars, and a full-size restaurant kitchen. This is Cinebarre’s second metro area location; the first opened in Thornton in 2008.

Cinebarre offers full service in each of the 11 theaters as well as in the lobby dining room so customers can experience the restaurant and bar however they wish. “Guests can choose to linger before or after the movie either having drinks at the bar or enjoying dinner in their theater seat or in the lobby dining room,” explains Katie Clayton, Cinebarre's director of special events. “It’s a fun environment and great food, so it’s a perfect place to stop by even if you don’t want to stay for the show.”

The food and drink menus mirror those in Thornton with appetizers, pizzas, sandwiches, salads, and burgers, plus a few new additions like kale chips and a cheese-and-fruit plate. Simply write your order on a personal-size dry erase board, slip it into the slot on your tiny table in the theater, and a server arrives. Opt for the satisfying prime rib sandwich (pictured) served with slender skin-on fries and au jus for dipping. Pair it with a cocktail, a microbrew, or a frosty ice cream drink. Round out the evening with freshly baked chocolate-chip cookies.

Kid Alert: An adult must accompany theatergoers 18 and younger at all times. New parents should take note of Cinebarre's Cry Baby Days, which are geared specifically for babies and young children.
