What is Modern?

The objects presented in this exhibit depict the evolution of art using a multiple methods and materials. Heavily stylized, industrial, and graphic designs are shown alongside home furnishings from the past 200 years, illustrating the ever-changing modern experience. Days, times vary. 

The Golden Hour

Bright colored dresses and jingling jewelry is what you can expect at the Bollywood-theme sneak peek showing of the documentary, The Golden Hour. Before the film, enjoy drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and dinner from Little India. The film follows Piyush Tewari, a 29-year-old man, who is trying to raise awareness for roadside fatalities in India. Proceeds benefit the documentary’s completion. Thu 6 p.m. 

Emerson Market Ars Coaequantur Art Show

For a night filled with paintings and photography, head down to the recently opened L’Avant-Garde Arts Centre. With more than 18 artists featured at the show, its safe to say there will be a lot to look at. While lingering through the studio hear music by Dillard and see live screen printing by NLS Graphics. Thu 7 p.m.

Harry the Great

Magic, romance, and suspense make this show a whirlwind adventure. Set at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, magician Harry the Great seeks revenge upon an ambitious new magician who's out to steal the limelight. A little bit of hocus pocus mixed with a little bit of comedy, this show won't stop entertaining. Wed 1:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m.; Thu 7:30 p.m.; Fri-Sat 8 p.m.; Sun 1:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m.

Who said an opera always has to be dark and dramatic? This year's Sideshow! features Daniel Moore's Gallantry: a hilarious spoof on hospital soap operas.  Doctor Gregg falls in love with anesthetist Lola who turns him down. Things get tricky in an operating room when Lola's husband is the patient on the table. Enjoy this cabaret-esque show with cocktails and appetizers. Thu-Sat 7:30 p.m.

 

The Starz Denver Film Festival

The popcorn is popping and the red carpets are being rolled out for the 35th Starz Denver Film Festival. This 10-day festival will feature films from talented producers and artist with the opening and closing nights at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Watch the featured films and of course enjoy the parties, and stars like Judy Greer from 13 Going On 30, who attended the festival last year.
