An unsuccessful actress from Buffalo, New York, returns home when her big dreams don't pan out. She learns in this comedy that sometimes stage life is a mirror of real life. Back on the local stage, she takes the role of Madame Ranevskaya—a downtrodden aristocrat who longs for her old home—in Chekhov's the Cherry Orchard, and finds that the part imitates her life in ways all too familiar.
