Derby Baby: A Story of Love, Addiction and Rink Rash

Tags: Robin Bond, Derby Baby, Denver Film Society, Dave Wruck

Roller derby: an in-your-face contact sport where ass-kicking is (unofficially) expected. Players have pseudonyms like QuaranTina, showmanship is encouraged, and skaters often leave the rink bruised and bloody—to fans' delight. Despite its grassroots start, roller derby is gaining in mainstream popularity. As it becomes more organized and less flashy, Derby Baby (view trailer) offers an inside look at the world's fastest growing, perhaps most misunderstood, sport. Sat 2:30 p.m., 5 p.m., 7:30 p.m.
