Skiing Heritage Week

Parties are always more fun with skiiers. Celebrate Vail's 50th anniversary with a week-long  gathering put on by the International Skiing History Association. The week  of ski films, dinners, parties, and recreational skiing, will conclude with a Pro-Am benefit race and the Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame induction ceremony. This year's inductees include legendary slope masters like Wayne Wong, Jerem Bloom, and Kristen Clark. Daily, times vary. 

The Architect's Perspective: Brad Cloepfil

The 28,500 square-foot concrete and edgy Clyfford Still Museum demands attention. Learn more about how Still’s abstract expressionism inspired the architectural design of this facility—the sole Still museum in existence. The artist's will stipulates that the entirety of his work must be housed in one permanent museum. Brad Cloepfil, the museum’s architect, will launch a new publication, Clyfford Still Museum: Allied Works Architecture, and share his understanding of Still’s mysterious creations. Mon 6:30 p.m.- 8 p.m.


Band of Horses

Most indie bands dream of the heights these bearded and flannel-clad rockers have reached. The pinnacle? A Grammy nomination for 2010’s acclaimed release Infinite Arms. Expect melodic alt-rock with a hint of countrylike twang, illustrated by tracks like “Knock Knock” and “Dumpster World” from Band of Horses’ latest album, Mirage Rock. Mon 8 p.m.
