CopperMan Winter Race

Submitted by Michael Krumholtz on Fri, 02/15/2013 - 12:25pm

Any race that includes terrain consisting of a "giant pit of hot chocolate" is worth running. Copper's second annual obstacle course challenges racers to battle through ball pits, slip down icy slides, and tightrope over the aforementioned pool of cocoa. After the 3K course, particpants can enjoy live music, food, and the beer garden in the Center Village. The ceremonial race concludes Copper's ski season, sending skiiers off with a memorable bang. Sun 10 a.m.

Greet the (hopefully) warmer temperatures at the conclusion of Breckenridge Ski Resort’s monthlong Spring Fever Festival. Performing under his Hebrew name—which means “Gift of God”—Matisyahu has released a string of successful albums in the past decade. Six albums, including last year's Spark Seeker, have topped Billboard magazine’s reggae chart. The MC spices up classic reggae with elements of rock and hip-hop, layering his genre-blending base with motivating, relevant lyrics that reflect his upbringing in a Reconstructionist Jewish household. Sun 2-5 p.m.

Special prizes up for grabs include tickets to the Summer X Games in Los Angeles or to a Colorado Rockies ballgame. Sun 11 a.m.

So Many Ladies

Get ready for your fair share of zany characters. Comedian Britt Swenson takes on the eccentric personalities of so many ladies as she acts out different characters of her own creation in this SNL-style performance. After working with L.A.’s Groundlings Sunday Company—from which the likes of Will Ferrell, Lisa Kudrow, and Kristen Wiig have hailed—Swenson is well practiced in quick wit and improvisation. Comedy group The Dishwater Blondes along with dance group Solid Gould will accompany the different versions of Swenson in her sketches as the mayhem of production unfolds.

Anthony Bourdain may be a man with No Reservations, but you’ll need some to get into this sure-to-be-packed culinary event. Bourdain joins friend and renowned chef Eric Ripert for an evening of storytelling and reflections about what goes on in the kitchen. The two men have vastly different philosophies but share a love—as many of us do—of food. Sun 7 p.m.
