A bird’s flight is a universal symbol of ethereal life. Look further into the representation of birds with the work of painter Maria Kozak, a New York-based artist who examines the relationships between man and nature. During her recent residency at PlatteForum, Kozak visited the Rocky Mountain Wildlife Conservation Center and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science to study an array of animals and birds—including seagulls, hummingbirds, and ostriches—in order to exemplify the movement of animals with the stroke of her brush. Don’t miss the flock of paintings she’s created.
