Do you want more excitement than summer's standard 5K? Find a group of mud-hungry friends or go it alone for this dog-friendly fun run. Encounter a series of mudpits, Slip 'n Slides, and haystacks along the sloppy obstacle course. Don't leave the kids at home–the Piglet Plunge offers children 12 and under a chance to revel in the messiness alongside you. Proceeds benefit Paradox Sports, a charity that provides sporting opportunities to the physically disabled. Sun 9 a.m.

Ballet in the Park

Art should be accessible to everyone. That mantra pervades Boulder Ballet's annual, free (!) outdoor series. Pack a picnic and grab some folding chairs—and your kids—for a performance of contemporary choreography, with excerpts from the troupe's season as well as new works. The showcase includes three different performances in various outdoor amphitheaters. After the show, meet the dancers and let your little ballerinas show off their moves on the open stage. Sun 7 p.m.
