Tour de Cure

Help the nearly 26 million Americans living with diabetes during this no-pressure bike ride, which aims to raise funds and awareness for the American Diabetes Association. Your start time depends on your distance—opt for the family-friendly 24K, or work those quads during the 50K, 100K, or 100-mile century ride. Sat, times vary.

 

Color Me Rad 5K

As you run jog kilometers, spectators bombard you with colorful "paint" during this fun run. At the end, runners' pearly white T-shirts will look more like a rainbow than a racer's uniform. Sat. 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Touch-a-Truck

Gear up for a cool car day presented by the Highlands Ranch Community Association. Kids can hop in fire engines, police cars, construction trucks, military vehicles, and more to learn what makes them go. Youngsters will also have a chance to talk to the personnel that uses the machines everyday. Sat 9 a.m.-1 p.m. 

Open Car and Antique Power Day

Relive a time when Colorado was the train mecca connecting the East to the West. Youngsters can climb aboard choo choos for tour rides and demonstrations on old-time equipment. As they take a trip into rich Colorado history, they'll learn how steam engines and old trackers were operated. Sat 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Golden Fine Arts Festival

At this buyer’s-market fest, you can view and judge nine artistic categories. Look out for Mary Staby, the 2013 Featured Artist who has a knack for painted photos. Bonus: The little ones can create their own mastepieces at the Kids Art Zone. Fri-Sat 10 a.m.-5 p.m. 

Denver Pet Expo

Celebrate animals great and small during this pet-friendly extravaganza. Browse pet-products, learn about microchipping, or adopt a new furry friend. Owners can enter their animals in a dog agility contest, costume contest, or talent show. Proof of a rabies vaccination is required for four-legged attendees. Sat 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Make a Splash

During this monthly event, family members go from room to room, working on a different art project in each. Families can take home their projects and either stay the whole time or come and go as they please. Children as young as two can participate. Sat 10 a.m.-1 p.m. 

Chipotle Cultivate Festival

Chipotle aims to bridge the gap between farmer and consumer with this festival. Watch local chefs, like Frasca Food and Wine’s Lachlan Mackinnon Patterson, plate ethical cuisine—which you can taste—to the tunes of live indie-rock bands. Sat 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

Heroes Against Hunger Block Party

Bootstraps Western Winefest

ESPN Denver Beer Fest

This inaugural festival showcases some of Colorado’s premier culinary gems. Breweries—including Odell Brewing Company—local restaurants, and food trucks dish up fare alongside vendors from specialty shops. Watch the Serevi Rugbytown Sevens Tournament for some quality entertainment while you imbibe. Sat 3-8 p.m.

 

Stapleton Beer Festival & Concert

Steamboat All Arts Festival: Opera Pops Concert

Dancers from the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble combine classic moves with new works during this modern dance showcase.
