When novelist Charles Condomine asks clairvoyant Madame Arcati to unveil details for a book he is writing, his calls to the spirits go awry. Instead of helpful visions, the ghost of his late, pesterous, first wife is uncovered. She returns to provoke his current marriage and swoon him into the afterlife.
