For movie lovers who tend to fall asleep mid reel, the Aspen Shortsfest is a dream come true: a showcase presenting compact-yet-complete 40-minute films. The selection of vanguard “shorts” varies from live-action and documentary to comedy and animation. Recognized as one of the world’s top 50 film festivals, the event includes screenings, special guest filmmakers, Q&A sessions, school education programs, and special events. In 2012, a lineup of 80 short films from 30 countries was chosen for the program—a diverse selection of shorts that doesn’t come up short on variety. Tue-Sun times vary.
