Bach at Leipzig
Based on true events (but told with various theatrical embellishments, of course), this comedy recounts a scuffle between six musical prodigies in the 1700s. Each musician is battling to become the greatest organist in all of Germany—but the competition devolves into blackmail, bribery, and betrayal. Among the hungry contestants is a young Johann Sebastian Bach who—as a shock to the other competitors—poses a serious threat. The production is filled with many of Bach’s now well-known compositions. Thu-Sat 7:30 p.m.; Sun 4 p.m.
