Live in the Past
Master your survival skills on Colorado’s southeastern plains. For history buffs 18 years and up, take up the daily tasks at this reconstructed 1840s adobe fur trading post adjunct to the Santa Fe Trail. Get the fort’s historical rundown, then load-up the wagons and setup camp in the cotton groves. At sunrise, caravan to the fort and discover the life of a hunter-trapper catching beavers in the Arkansas River or a domestic-hand churning the butter. Also interact with blacksmiths, laborers, traders, and soldiers. On Sunday, teach your classmates the skills that you’ve acquired from your role. Wed 9 a.m-5 p.m.; Thu 8 a.m.-6 p.m.; Fri 7 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sat 9 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sun 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
