Late-night talk show bandleaders can become nearly as iconic as the shows’ hosts. Doc Severinsen flaunted his virtuosic trumpet skills between Johnny Carson's wisecracks for 25 years on the Tonight Show. But the rest of his career has been equally productive, resulting in Grammy Awards and dozens of jazz and Latin albums. The Colorado Symphony will assist Severinsen during his “Solid Gold” show, which features the maestro’s renditions of beloved retro hits, like George Gerswin's "Embraceable You" and Duke Ellington's "I've Got it Bad (and That Ain't Good)." Sat 7:30 p.m.
