Shira's excitement at marrying a young, promising Israeli man is marred when her older sister unexpectedly dies during childbirth. When Shira's Hasidic family learns that her sister's widow wishes to leave the country with their only grandchild, they ask her to marry him—forcing him to stay nearby. Days, times vary.
