The truelife terror wrought by England’s “Yorkshire Ripper” could easily become fodder for cliché horror directors. But in the hands of three award-winning independent filmmakers (each one responsible for a different piece of the trilogy), the story is instead given a “neo-noir” treatment that examines the psyche of a community rather than a killer.
