Before you head west for ski season, stop by this free clinic that will teach you what to do out there if things go south. Colorado Mountain School guide Ian Fowler will lead the presentation, covering everything from the basics, including the different types of avalanches and where they happen, to more nuanced subjects like snowpack analysis and the decision-making skills you’ll need in the event of an avalanche emergency. After class, reward yourself for your attentive listening by sidling up to the bar for some Crooked Stave brews.
