This Is Gonna Take A While: A BBQ Sampling

This two-part culinary celebration promises a feast for both your eyes and your stomach. To start the evening, Boulder visual artists Zak Lloyd and Melanie Clemmons will present a digital compilation of barbecue-themed works made by local creatives. Then attendees can sample a buffet of pulled pork, Texas-style brisket, and grilled potato salad alongside beers from Upslope Brewing Company while personal chef and pitmaster TJ Jerrod gives a talk on the history of this well-known cooking technique. Thu 5-8 p.m.

The Sushi Series Rolling Class

Take sushi night into the comfort of your own kitchen after attending this hands-on cooking class. Learn the art of making both sushi rolls and nigiri sushi from Zengo's master sushi chef. For an extra $15, attendees can opt for sake pairings, in which a sake sommelier will perfectly match the tipple to every roll. Thu 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Dikeou Literary Series

At this inspirational reading, you have the chance to hear excerpts from finished works and get a sneak peek at four Colorado writers' upcoming projects. Boulder poet Anisah Ali-Henderson will share her emeotional reflections on trauma and race; University of Denver PhD student, and novelist McCormick Templeman will read portions of her two young adult thrillers. Plus, Denver poet Curtis Romero will share pieces from his new book, The Green Child, while Toni Oswald unveils sections of her novel-in-progress set at a 1950s circus. Thu 7-9 p.m.
