Buckaroo Breakfast

Round up your youngest cowboys and girls for a morning of Wild West-themed exploration. You and your kids can build up an appetite during free play throughout the museum before digging into a hearty breakfast of eggs, bacon, biscuits, and gravy provided by Strawberries Catering. Finish off the morning by making “Wanted: Dead or Alive” posters and other Western souvenirs to take home. Sat 8 a.m.

CU Wizards: "Superheroes and Villians!"

Respected University of Colorado professor James Thompson invites students in grades first through tenth to examine clashes between superheroes and villains as seen through the laws of physics. This one-hour program will string together dramatic demonstrations and experiments to explore how the principles in physics can be applied to the ideas of good and evil. Come prepared to wax philosophical and exercise your mind. Sat 9:30 a.m. 

Family Fun Day: Tropical Vacation

Trade snowy slopes for sandy beaches and lush rainforests at this educational day in paradise. Your kiddos will get the chance to see live animals from tropical habitats and talk to real marine biologists from the Ocean First Institute about their favorite equatorial creatures. Then, they'll make tropics-themed crafts, such as a "beach in a jar" or an underwater watercolor, and enjoy hula dance lessons from the Kalama Polynesian Dancers. Sat 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana

Take in sensuous flamenco dancing at this evening with one of the nation’s top flamenco and Spanish dance companies. If the colorful costumes and hypnotizing Andalusian folk music aren’t enough to get you on your feet, the rhythmic guitar, hand clapping, and finger snapping should do the trick. Be dazzled by the glamour and gusto of this Spanish dance, as the company’s co-founder and artistic director Carlota Santana leads his band of energetic dancers and musicians in a multicultural art form. Sat 7:30-10 p.m.

The Art of the Force Celebration

Celebrate Denver Art Museum's Star Wars and the Power of Costume exhibit in the presence of quite a few local stars at this futuristic-themed soiree. In honor of the Denver Art Museum's young philanthropist group Culturehaus' 20th anniversary, its founder (and the Colorado governor) John Hickenlooper will give a speech to open the evening. Gallery-goers can expect to mingle with Culturehaus alums and plenty of Storm Troopers as the Denver Young Artists Orchestra performs songs from the Star Wars movie score. Bonus: Suggested attire is intergalactic cocktail.

The Texas country rockers bring their red dirt covered cowboy boots to the Rockies for back-to-back Denver shows. Expect country radio favorites like “Wasn’t That Drunk” and “Amnesia"—cuts from the album Front Row Seat, which was inspired by frontman Abbot’s divorce. Fri 8 p.m.

Speakeasy Soiree

Swing, step, and slide your way around Dry Dock Brewing Company with professionals from The Ladies & Gentlemen dance troupe. After receiving a free swing dance lesson at the beginning of the evening, enjoy live jazz music by La Pompe Jazz band, sip brews and cocktails from the cash bar, and shop your way around wares from vendors including Knotty But Nice Ties and Goorin Brothers hat shop. Sat 8:30 p.m.
