To explore the future of their art, aerialists and acrobats from Moth Contemporary Circus Center are looking to the past. This modern circus production (think: nuanced plots and theatrics instead of elephants and ringmasters) takes the audience behind the scenes during the golden age of film, when love triangles and backstage hijinks were just as enthralling as the action on screen. Even the costumes take a nod from classic films: Like the actors in The Wizard of Oz, the circus performers shift from wearing black-and-white attire to Technicolor garb between the first and second acts.
