The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema and the Clyfford Still Museum have partnered up to create this film series, which features flicks that are thematically similar to exhibits of modern art. Kick off this month’s event with a screening of Medicine for Melancholy the debut film by Moonlight director Barry Jenkins, a complement to Shade:Clyfford Still/Mark Bradford. Other movies in the lineup include a May documentary about the life of Disney’s first African-American animator and a July biopic exploring punk band Death’s rise to fame several decades after its members made their first demo.
