Redline Gallery’s resident artists have looked inwards to create pieces that address the motivations sustaining their studio practices. Tasked with examining what it means to be a working artist in the modern economy, the artists have created works ranging from reflections of one LGBTQ artist at her male-dominated day job to an installation featuring Gagger Counters, instruments used to detect radioactive material which have become symbolic of one artist’s feelings about her own mortality following a major injury. Denverites will particularly appreciate Sandra Fettingis’ painting on concrete, which reflects on her experience as a muralist working in Denver’s fast-changing urban landscape.
