High Plains Comedy Festival

Get ready to split your sides—this four-day festival is bringing more than 70 stand-up comedians to multiple venues across the Mile High City. Attendees can catch individual stand-up shows and watch performers test their improv skills in a competitive erotic fan fiction event. Don't miss headliners Garfunkel and Oates, a comedy-folk duo made up of Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci, as well as raunchy comedian Kyle Kinane and Cameron Esposito. Wed-Sat, times vary. 

Mini Pearl the Mini Horse & Book Reading

At this heartwarming reading, local author Elaine Pease shares her newest collection of stories with a little help from a four-legged ambassador. The book, Safe at Last, tells the true tales of six rescue horses from Colorado, including that of Mini Pearl, the miniature "spokeshorse" for Colorado Horse Rescue. After the reading, kids will get a chance to hang out with Mini Pearl and ask the author questions about her equine friends. Wed 3-4 p.m.

Beaver Creek Blast Mountain Bike Race

Elevate your heart rate at high altitude during this exciting race, which ranges from 6.7 to 16 miles depending on the course you choose. Riders of all ages and ability levels can compete for the chance to win $5,200. After a long day of riding, swing by the Dusty Boot afterward for a complimentary steak dinner and a cold one. Wed 4:45 p.m.-9 p.m.

Jack's Backyard Bash

When prominent local chefs come together to create a six-course meal, the results are bound to be delicious. For this gourmet dinner, Brett Smith of the Post Brewing Company, Hosea Rosenberg of Blackberry Market, and other guest cooks will craft a menu including lobster consomme served with oyster mushroom flan as well as crispy pork belly served with smoked corn. Wash each course down with beers from the Post Brewing Company and Bru Handbuilt Ales & Eats while enjoying tunes played by pianist Adam Bodine.
