Amongst the trappings of a burgeoning city, many Denverites sometimes rebuff the city’s cow-town roots. But at this event, which is returning after being cancelled for snow last year, it’s being celebrated by sending 40 Longhorn cattle down 17th Street. The bovine paraders (herded by cowboys from Monument’s Searle Ranch) are among more than 65 entries in this 10-blocks-long National Western Stock Show launch party. Keep your eyes peeled for the Grand Marshal—after a history of honorees like Mayor Hancock and Governor Hickenlooper, the title this year goes to the Broncos’ mascot Thunder.
