The Sometimes Pop Up Kiosk

Local artist Stephanie Kantor will put a spin on the classic tourism kiosk at her latest quirky installment. She’ll use her pop-up’s presence to educate visitors on the “gift shop”, a common aspect of how we experience cultural landmarks and tourist destinations. When she is inside, Kantor will sell handmade knick-knacks, including cups, vases and 16th street mall souvenirs. Haggle for meticulously crafted treasures such as hand painted diamond-back rattlesnake wallpaper, a pattern that mimics the inlay of the Mall.

This Tony Award–winning Broadway musical chronicles the iconic 1956 impromptu jam session of four musical legends—Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins—at Sun Records in Memphis. “Walk the Line,” “Hound Dog,” “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On,” and “Matchbox” are just a few of the hit songs included in the show’s repertoire.
