The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Colorado Holiday Commissions “Marade” (a combination of a march and a parade), will celebrate the life and work of one of the world’s most outstanding civil activists. Beginning in City Park, the “marade” will proceed to the State Capitol grounds before finishing in Civic Center Park. Commemorate the national holiday honoring an American hero by participating—or watching—as the procession winds its way along the roughly-three-mile-route. Mon 10:45 a.m.

It's Electric! Workshop

Submitted by SamanthaHarris on Tue, 01/10/2017 - 5:13pm

Children and their grown-ups can channel their inner Einsteins as they explore the science of circuits using hands-on exercises that demonstrate the ways electricity is constantly flowing around us and within us. Participants will use play-dough as a conductor to create a piece of technology called a Makey Makey, which turns everyday objects into sources of electricity with the help of circuits and batteries. After that, they’ll learn more about circuits each playing music on a digital piano. Mon 2 p.m.
