FLASH BANNER PREPARATION FOR OPENX

Prepare Flash Banners for OpenX Ad Server

At 5280 we use OpenX (formerly OpenAds) to serve our ads. OpenX will accept Flash banners that are created in one of the two formats below. (Also, OpenX will support transparent Flash banners-please let us know if you plan to use this type of file.)

1) Hard-coded URL

In the example below, the URL is hard-coded into the Flash file using the Actions palette. OpenX will convert this file making it trackable by extracting the URL when the file is originally uploaded. Please remember to insert the "http://".

2) ClickTAG (guidelines set by the Macromedia Flash Advertising Alliance)

In the example below the hard-coded URL is replaced with an ActionScript variable called clickTAG. OpenX will give the Flash player the correct value for the clickTAG ActionScript variable during delivery.

The ActionScript in this Flash advertisement is verifying that the clickTAG URL begins with "http:". This is an important security measure.
