Old Glory thrives with a makeover and new digs in Littleton. By Cheryl Meyers August 2008 When Old Glory Antiques closed its doors in Conifer last July, it was a bittersweet occasion. The shop had been Conifer's premier antique haven for more than 20 years, a must-browse spot for vintage-loving foothills-dwellers. But antique hunters got some good news when Old Glory's retiring owners sold the store to veteran Denver antique dealer Holly Kuhn (of Patina fame), who moved the store to Littleton, where it's been enjoying a healthy reincarnation. With an eye for aesthetics, Kuhn took Old Glory's inventory of Midwest Americana furniture and amped it up with her own artful displays. Glass jars full of old typewriter letters make a playful vignette in one corner, and a faded wooden toolbox finds new life as a planter. Each piece exudes a haphazard elegance, inviting visitors to poke around endlessly. Tip: Give yourself at least an hour in this store; it might take some careful searching to find a piece with just the right appeal. "If something has scrapes and scratches, it's not old," Kuhn says.
