Socorro's 19 E. Bayaud St., 303-777-8226. There's nothing fancy about Socorro's tiny space, but the bar stools are usually filled with hungry diners guzzling icy agua frescas and devouring three-bite tacos. There's more to the menu—stacked tortas, smothered burritos, fiery green chile—but we go for the street tacos. Three-inch disks of fresh corn tortillas come stuffed with everything from tilapia to eggs with chorizo. Our favorite fillings are the tender al pastor (marinated pork) and the slightly smoky beef barbacoa. Douse each bite in the tomatillo-tart salsa, and round out the meal by sipping on a slightly fizzy hibiscus agua fresca.

not bad - i'll eat there again
finally went here after walking by a few times a week for months; i was put at ease by the friendly staff (mother and son?), by the non-pretentious look and the very clean open kitchen
was pleased to find vegetarian green chile on the menu (the norm in New Mexico) so i had a smothered rice-beans-cheese burrito which was very good for the price -- the cheese was slightly "American" tasting, but the chile was great -- very spicy without being out of control; my companion had two vegetarian tostadas which were well balanced; the guac was good too, and a tiny taste of the green salsa that made me want to try it again
by the way, i've looked through Socorro's window many dozens of times, at different times of day, and i've never seen it completely full of customers -- did you make that up?
