It's been 95 years since the streets of Denver have seen horse-drawn beer deliveries to local watering holes, but to the delight of LoDo's Friday happy hour crowd, history is repeating itself this summer. Every second and fourth Friday through August, Wynkoop Brewing Company, Colorado's first brewpub—and Mayor John Hickenlooper's first business success—is transporting its flagship Rail Yard Ale and other microbrews via vintage horsepower. The keg-laden wagon, pulled by the iconic Clydesdale horses, departs Wynkoop to make old-school delivery stops at downtown clients such as Wazee Supper Club, Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret, and Scruffy Murphy's Irish Pub. Next time beer-thirty rolls around on a Friday and you find yourself on a downtown patio, raise your glass to the wagon—those horses are working a lot harder than you. Huzzah!
